About Blustream

Who makes Blustream

Blustream was founded in Melbourne, Australia, by a team of AV product managers from the consumer electronics and multi room AV trade. It designs HDMI distribution for AV installers, and its prices are shown only to trade accounts.

Blustream says it was the first manufacturer to carry the HDMI audio return channel inside the HDBaseT signal, so a TV can feed sound back into a multi room system. Kasturi surveys the room, specifies the model, and installs it with the displays, cameras and audio around it.

The short answer

Which Blustream system do I need?

Choose by cabling and screen count. One source to one display: an HDBaseT extender on one CAT cable. Up to 8 sources to 8 displays in a room or on a floor: an HDBaseT matrix, with no network switch. More screens, or across a building: video over IP on a managed switch, 10Gb SDVoE for zero latency or 1Gb for one frame.

Figures from Blustream's own product pages, linked in each row below, checked on 12 October 2026. Blustream shows prices only to trade accounts, so this page carries none.

In the building

How a signal reaches the screen

Four parts, whichever path the survey picks.

01

Source

A laptop at the table, a room PC, a media player or a camera connects by HDMI or USB-C, at the table, in a wall plate or in the rack.

02

Send

A transmitter or encoder puts the signal onto a CAT cable for HDBaseT, or onto the network for video over IP. Control signals travel with the video.

03

Route

A matrix switcher, or the network switch, sends any input to any display. Multiview and video wall modes split or join screens.

04

Receive and control

A receiver at each display hands the picture over. A keypad, the web interface or a control system chooses what shows where.

Blustream against Extron, Crestron, Kramer and Atlona

How Blustream compares

All five brands move 4K video over HDBaseT cable and over the network. The differences are network speed, who makes the control system, and who installs it in Malaysia. Every fact below is from the maker's own pages, checked on 13 October 2026.

The short version

Blustream or Extron

Extron makes the whole chain itself: DTP3 twisted pair, NAV video over IP on its PURE3 codec, and IPCP Pro control processors that are programmed only in Extron's own software.

Extron fits when
the site already standardises on Extron control.
Blustream fits when
the system should be set up from a web page or app, which Blustream's V2 matrices offer, rather than a programmed processor.

Blustream or Crestron

Crestron DM NVX sends 4K60 4:4:4 over a 1Gb network, and its DM 8G+ endpoints are HDBaseT certified. Kasturi installs both brands.

Crestron fits when
the building runs, or will run, Crestron control.
Blustream fits when
the job needs uncompressed 10Gb SDVoE video. Blustream's IP500 series uses it; DM NVX is a 1Gb system.

Blustream or Kramer

Kramer covers the same ground: 1Gb video over IP (KDS-7, KDS-17), 10Gb SDVoE (ZyPer4K), HDBaseT 3.0 extenders and matrices, Dante interfaces and its own Kramer Control.

Kramer fits when
Kramer Control already runs the rooms.
Blustream fits when
you want Kasturi to survey, install and support it. Kasturi does not install Kramer.

Blustream or Atlona

Atlona, a Panduit company, pairs OmniStream video over IP on a 1Gb network with PRO3 HDBaseT matrices and its Velocity control platform.

Atlona fits when
Velocity already manages the building's rooms.
Blustream fits when
the job needs uncompressed 10Gb SDVoE video, which OmniStream, a 1Gb system, does not use.

Planning the budget

What drives the cost

Blustream does not publish public prices, so every system is quoted after the survey. These four things set the size of the quote.

Screens and sources

The number of inputs and displays decides the matrix size, from a 4x2 kit to a 16x16 frame, or the number of encoders and decoders on a network.

Picture and latency

Uncompressed HDBaseT and zero latency SDVoE cost more than 1Gb video over IP with one frame of latency, or 1080p H.265.

Cabling and network

SDVoE needs a 10Gb managed switch. The IP300UHD series needs a 1Gb managed switch. HDBaseT needs a CAT cable to every display. Existing cabling often decides the path.

Audio and control

Dante, ARC, an independent audio matrix, or integration with a room control system adds hardware and programming time.

The proposal separates equipment from installation. Where Blustream is part of a video conferencing room, Kasturi's published room bands apply: a huddle room from RM 8,000, a meeting room from RM 15,000 and a boardroom from RM 30,000, covering hardware and system, with installation and cabling quoted after the survey.

FAQ

Questions to answer before you buy Blustream

Answers from Blustream's own product pages and from how Kasturi runs a project.

Question not answered here?

WhatsApp +6017 303 9377 or call +603 7960 1808. We reply within one business day.

What is the difference between HDBaseT and video over IP?

HDBaseT runs point to point: one CAT cable from the matrix or transmitter to each display, with no network switch. Video over IP puts every source and display on a managed network switch, so the system can grow by adding endpoints. Blustream's SDVoE products need a 10Gb switch and list zero latency. The IP300UHD series runs on a 1Gb switch with one frame of latency. The survey confirms which path suits the cabling in the building.

Is Kasturi an authorised Blustream partner?

No. Kasturi supplies and installs Blustream products. Kasturi's authorised partner brands are Logitech, HP Poly, Yealink, Cisco, Jabra, Neat, MAXHUB, Biamp, Shure, Q-SYS, Huddly and Zoom.

How much does a Blustream system cost in Malaysia?

Blustream shows prices only to trade accounts, so every system is quoted after a site survey, with equipment and installation separated. Where Blustream is part of a video conferencing room, Kasturi's published room bands apply: a huddle room for 2 to 5 seats from RM 8,000, a meeting room for 6 to 12 seats from RM 15,000, and a boardroom for 12 to 20 seats from RM 30,000. Starting prices cover hardware and system. Installation and cabling are quoted after the survey.

Can one source show on several screens?

Yes. A matrix switcher sends any input to any output, and a splitter copies one input to several outputs. On video over IP, any decoder can show any encoder. Blustream's SDVoE transceivers also list multiview, with up to 16 sources on one screen, and video wall modes.

How long does installation take?

A meeting room takes 1 to 2 days. A boardroom or training hall takes 3 to 5 days. Larger systems across several rooms are scheduled after the survey. Wiring can be done after hours or at weekends.

Is the site survey free?

The consultation, product demo and site assessment are free in Peninsular Malaysia. For East Malaysia, contact Kasturi to arrange the project discussion. Outside the Klang Valley the survey usually starts on a video call, then one site visit.

Who installs and supports the system?

Kasturi's own engineers and technicians survey, design, install and support every room, outstation projects included. No subcontractors. Support responds within 4 business hours. Enquiries are answered within one business day. Blustream's UK site lists a 5 year warranty on purchases from 1 January 2024. Other hardware in the room is generally 1 to 2 years, subject to each manufacturer's terms.
