Match the wall to the closest seat

The closest regular viewer sets the pitch. Hisense all-in-one walls on the current index are 108 inch at 1.25 mm, 136 inch at 1.5625 mm and 163 inch at 1.875 mm, each 1920 x 1080. A seat inside about two metres, with spreadsheets on screen, wants the finer end or an XIH-S cabinet. A lobby glance from four metres does not.

Decide before the quote

Nine checks, then the type

Answer these in order. The diagonal is the last choice, not the first.

  1. Closest seat

    Measure the nearest chair that will regularly read the wall. A front row inside about two metres, with small text, wants 1.25 mm or finer. A lobby glance from about four metres can use a coarser pitch.

  2. What is on screen

    Spreadsheets and shared documents need the finer end. Slides and video can sit on 1.56 mm or 1.87 mm if the front row is not close.

  3. The opening

    An all-in-one wall is a fixed 16:9 at 108, 136 or 163 inch, all 1920 x 1080. If the wall is wider, taller, or not 16:9, it is a cabinet wall, not a larger all-in-one.

  4. Room light

    These all-in-one sets default to 600 nits and can be raised. A window opposite the wall is a survey item. It can force a brighter set or a different position. It does not pick the inch size.

  5. How it is serviced

    The HAIO sets and the XIH-S cabinets on the current index are front service. If the wall cannot be reached from the room, say so before the size is locked.

  6. The room camera

    A camera facing the wall is a reason to stay at the finer pitch, so a remote viewer does not see a grid. Specify the camera with the display, not after it.

  7. Sound and control

    The wall does not replace the microphones or the one-button start. A boardroom still needs ceiling or table mics, and a control panel anyone can use.

  8. Then the type

    • 108 inch at 1.25 mm, for the closer boardroom.
    • 136 inch at 1.5625 mm, for a medium room.
    • 163 inch at 1.875 mm, when the front row is further back.

  9. When it is a cabinet

    XIH-S cabinets from 0.78 mm to 1.56 mm when the opening is not 16:9, or the closest seat is nearer than the all-in-one pitch allows. The survey confirms the build.

How a wall is specified

Pitch before diagonal

The diagonal is the last choice, not the first. Four things are settled before it.

The wall is one part of the room. Camera, microphones and control are specified with it, not after it.

  1. Closest seat

    Walk the room. The seat that will read text sets the pitch. A photo stop at the wall does not.

  2. Light on the face

    Hisense defaults sit at 500 to 600 nits. A glazed lobby can need more. Peak nits are not the working setting.

  3. All-in-one or cabinets

    108, 136 and 163 inch cover a standard board wall. Any other ratio uses 600 x 337.5 mm cabinets.

  4. The rest of the room

    A wall at 3,840 Hz still needs microphones, a camera and a one button start. That is the same handover test as every Kasturi room.

When 16:9 is the wrong shape

Cabinets for a custom wall

XIH-S is flip-chip COB in four pitches: 0.78, 0.9375, 1.25 and 1.56 mm. Each cabinet is 600 x 337.5 x 34.3 mm and 4.04 kg, die-cast aluminium, front access. Typical brightness is 600 nits.

Brighter cabinets

XIHFE is the brighter indoor COB line on the same index. XIH009FE and XIH012FE are listed at 800 nits, at 0.9375 mm and 1.25 mm. XIH015FE is 1.56 mm at 600 nits. Contrast on both lines is 10,000:1 at 10 lux in Hisense's test environment.

Quality, not a badge

Surface, light and camera

COB against GOB

HAIO108DE and HAIO136DE are flip-chip COB. Hisense lists a black ratio of 96.16 percent on the 108 and 98.6 percent on the 136DE, with contrast of 25,000:1 and 40,000:1 at 10 lux. HAIO163DE is 3 in one SMD with Glue On Board, 500 nits and 5,000:1. The larger diagonal is not the finer picture.

Touch, if the wall is the board

HAIO108DE-T adds an infrared touch frame to the 108 inch, 1.25 mm wall. Hisense lists 20 touch points on Android and Windows, and a single point on Mac. The framed screen is 2439 x 1474 x 53 mm and 81 kg. It is a whiteboard path, not a second pitch.

Refresh and the call

Typical refresh is 3,840 Hz across the all-in-one sets named above. That is the figure that matters for a room camera. Speakers are built in, 10 W x 6 on the 136 and 163 sets. A boardroom still wants ceiling or table microphones. Audio is specified on the audio page, and the call path on Teams rooms.

Weight and power

Screen weight runs from 76 kg on HAIO108DE to 110 kg on the 136 inch sets and 162 kg on the 163 inch sets. HAIO108DE averages at or under 400 W at 600 nits. HAIO136GE averages at or under 750 W at 600 nits. Plasterboard and a shared circuit are survey items.
